The TDI diesel range is equally responsive. When it comes to unlocking performance safely and reliably, VAG vehicles sit in a class of their own.

We tune for reliability first. Our heavy-roller dyno is calibrated to measure at the wheels. Manufacturer figures are normally quoted at the engine and drivetrain loss varies, so the meaningful comparison is the verified change between the baseline and final run on the same vehicle, dyno and session.

The beauty of the Volkswagen Auto Group platform is the shared engineering across Volkswagen and Audi. The EA888 engine in a Golf GTI is fundamentally the same engine in an Audi A3 or S3. The TDI diesel range similarly spans both brands. This means ATM's deep experience with VAG engines translates across the entire lineup. Here is a detailed look at the models and engines we tune.

The EA888 petrol engine family is the heart of VAG performance tuning. In its various generations, the EA888 powers the Golf GTI, Golf R, Polo GTI (in later variants), Audi A3, Audi S3, Audi A4, Audi A5, and even the Audi TT S. A custom remap from ATM delivers a strong, safe lift in power and torque on both the GTI and the Golf R. These are proven, reliable gains that the EA888 platform handles comfortably with factory hardware. A higher-output custom tune, with a SNIPER Racing downpipe and upgraded intake, takes it even further.

The TFSI turbo petrol range in Audi includes several distinct engine, gearbox and software combinations. ATM treats the A4, A5, S3, S4, S5, RS3 and RS5 as separate platforms, confirming support and choosing a calibration for the exact vehicle and hardware rather than assuming one result across the range.

On the diesel side, the VW Amarok deserves special mention. The Amarok 3.0 V6 TDI is one of the most capable bakkies on the South African market, and a diesel remap from ATM transforms its already strong torque delivery into something genuinely muscular. For Amarok owners who tow boats along the Garden Route coast, pull caravans over Robinson Pass, or use their vehicle as a working bakkie on farms around Riversdale and Albertinia, the additional torque is not a luxury but a practical upgrade that makes daily life easier. The Amarok 2.0 TDI bi-turbo is equally responsive, with substantial mid-range torque gains that transform the driving experience.

For owners of older VAG turbo models, including the Mk5 and Mk6 Golf GTI, the Audi A4 B8, and earlier Amarok variants, ATM has the experience and tools to tune these platforms as well.
