The C220d and E220d are among the most popular Mercedes models on South African roads, and for good reason. They deliver excellent fuel economy, strong torque, and the long-distance comfort that Mercedes is famous for. A diesel remap from ATM enhances the mid-range torque that makes these cars so pleasant to drive. Climbing the Outeniqua Pass from George to Oudtshoorn, overtaking on the N2, pulling away from traffic lights in Mossel Bay, every scenario improves when the engine has access to its full torque potential. The C-Class is the backbone of the Mercedes range in South Africa. The C200 and C220d are among the most common premium vehicles you will see on the roads between Mossel Bay and George. The C200's 1.5-litre turbo petrol (M264) delivers smooth city performance but comes alive with a remap that fills the mid-range and sharpens throttle response. The C220d's 2.0-litre diesel (OM654) is already torquey, but a custom calibration transforms it into something genuinely punchy. The C250 and C300 models benefit equally, with noticeable gains across the power band that make the daily drive feel significantly more engaging.
Moving up to AMG territory, the C43 AMG and its 3.0-litre V6 biturbo (M276) is one of the most rewarding AMG models to remap. Factory output is already impressive, but there is substantial headroom in the turbo system. A custom remap from ATM delivers a strong, safe lift in power, and the delivery remains impeccably smooth. The C63 AMG with its 4.0 V8 biturbo (M177) is a different beast entirely. Hand-built at AMG's Affalterbach facility, this engine responds to careful calibration with additional power and a sharper, more aggressive character while maintaining the mechanical sympathy that preserves long-term reliability.
The E-Class and SUV range including the GLC, GLE, and the older ML models are popular among Garden Route residents who need a vehicle that can handle the N2 highway runs, the gravel roads beyond Oudtshoorn, and the school run in Mossel Bay. The E220d is an excellent long-distance cruiser that becomes even better with a diesel remap, delivering more overtaking torque and improved highway fuel efficiency. The GLC and GLE diesel variants benefit similarly, with the additional torque proving particularly useful when towing boats or caravans along the Garden Route coast.

This includes the M264 and M260 four-cylinder turbo petrols, the OM654 and OM651 four-cylinder diesels, the M256 inline-six turbo, the M176 V8 biturbo, and the hand-built AMG M177 and M178 V8 engines.
